Antique decorative Glass

Description

This art glass is a selection of a countless variety of shapes mainly of utility glass that used to be made worldwide and in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown from the end of the 12th century up to the baroque. It truly reflects the corresponding historical period and the technical possibilities of those times. Glass used to be made in small and simple furnaces heated by wood and without a long-term experience, which resulted in improperly refined glass containing numerous blisters, veins and stones. Also the uneven quality of glass-making raw materials gave the products various colour tones that are nowadays so difficult to imitate. The blisters and veins were caused by the manufacturing processes of those times and are nowadays made artificially, trying to embody their typical charm determined by the given historical period and place of manufacture.
